Came across this and thought its worth to share:
"There once was a bunch of tiny frogs who arranged a running competition. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower.
A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants… The race began…
Honestly: No one in crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower. You heard statements such as:
“Oh, WAY too difficult!!” “They will NEVER make it to the top” or: “Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!”
The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one… Except for those, who in a fresh tempo, were climbing higher and higher.
The crowd continued to yell, “It is too difficult!!! No one will make it!”
More tiny frogs got tired and gave up… But ONE continued higher and higher and higher… This one wouldn’t give up!
At the end, everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who, after a big effort, was the only one who reached the top!
THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this one frog managed to do it.
A contestant asked the tiny how he had found the strength to succeed and reach the goal.
It turned out....That the winner was DEAF!
The wisdom of this story is: Never listen to other people’s tendencies to be negative or pessimistic…"
Realise it or not, our actions, decisions, outlooks in life ARE affected by what people around us are putting into our minds. Words do have the power to bring one down. That is why, it is extremely important to know and always remember to be DEAF to all those negative and unsupportive remarks. Most of the times too we will see that it is our ownself who is keeping us down. I had always like to think of myself as a realist, sometimes to the point of being pessimist. Hubby is a dreamer, always being an optimist, but then a dreamer is just most of the times, in their dreamland. It makes me realize that, we have to balanced, be both! A dreamer, who is not afraid of dreaming high, a realist ( defined by freedictionary as:a person who takes a practical approach to problems and is concerned primarily with the success or failure of her actions) who will put actions into the dreams.
A thought which does not result in an action is nothing much,
and an action which does not proceed from a thought is nothing at all. ~ Georges Bernanos
It is equally important to keep on looking for positive thoughts, through supplications, supportive family or friends, inspirational stories and so on. Thinking positively is a habit, so to inculcate a habit you just need to do it everytime ( Dato' Fadzillah mentioned that to make something a habit we have to keep on doing it consecutively for 21 DAYS! insyaAllah). That is what I have been trying to do now. Though sometimes negative thoughts do come knocking, I am trying, insyaAllah, to put it away and replace it with positive thinking. I do believe that in achieving something, positivity and knowledge are the keys. Not forgetting, to return all your hopes dreams and actions to Allah.
And for those who fear Allah, He (ever) prepares a way out, - And He provides for him from (sources) he never could imagine. And if any one puts his trust in Allah, sufficient is ((Allah)) for him. For Allah will surely accomplish his purpose: verily, for all things has Allah appointed a due proportion. (surah at-talaq 65:2-3)
